On Tuesday the 20th of March our Freedom family from Glen Waverley held a ‘Classical Soiree’ event for our residents, their friends & family and our neighbours from Aveo Oak Tree village.
Our Freedom family at Glen Waverley love music and often spend their time watching and listening to renowned Dutch violinist and conductor Andre Rieu, one of their absolute favourite performers. “I love watching Andrè Rieu, especially listening to his music and watching his spectacular show” – Evelyn (96 years young).
We may not have been able to get Andre Rieu, but as a great alternative we had two performers attend to entertain our residents, including a string quartet trio and a soprano singer. The community dining area was set up in a cabaret style and our residents loved watching the performances, all while sitting back, relaxing and enjoying some champagne and nibbles.

After enjoying the performances it was time to cap off the afternoon with a delicious three course meal, which was prepared by the onsite team.
For the majority of our Freedom family at Glen Waverley a lack of mobility can make it hard to get out and about regularly, which is why this was the perfect way of bringing the beauty and magic of concert music to life in our community.
Freedom offers a simple sense of community, and we encourage our Freedom family to do what they love and continue to have a sense of playfulness and purpose. The fun doesn’t stop as we get older, we get older when the fun stops.
